Advanced Rigging & Industrial Roped Access
A unique sculptural piece by the artist Joel Shapiro was selected to be hung outside the 23 Saville Row building in Mayfair, London.
Alternative Access Logistics was asked to provide pre-construction advice as to how best to securely suspend the art installation.
With the delicate nature of the sculpture and the significant self weight, the considerable expertise of Alternative Access Logistics was brought to bear.
The complex and irregular nature of the sculpture required the use of advanced rigging techniques in unison with advanced industrial roped access techniques.
A fully detailed programme, showing design, procurement, loads testing, fabrication and erection was provided to ensure safety and that the sculpture could be installed to programme in its fashionable retail location.
The support cables and connection fixings were unique to the sculpture with connection details undertaken with specialist manufacturers. Detailed in-situ analysis on site by operatives assisted in obtaining information for the final position of sculpture for inclusion in the O&M manuals, complete with a load test of the sculpture.
