Permanent Access System
Client: Wilson Bowden Date: 2008
An architect led design for a bespoke access system was a requirement for the building’s facade access system. The system needed to access not only the main facade, but the internal lightwells and external areas around staircase enclosures.
Alternative Access Logistics undertook the design, manufacture and installation of the system mounted on a combination of a single and twin track systems held off the roof by stub brackets. The flexibility of the aluminium track allowed for tight radii bends to follow the profile of the external envelope.
The powered platform carriage that moves along the tracks on the roof is remotely controlled directly from the man access platforms.
Two separate options were put forward for client flexibility. The platform options provided were for a two man, 2M platform and a one man solo platform as part of the system.
