Advanced rigging techniques
Client: Aqua Leisure Centre
Date: Summer 2007
Alternative Access Logistics Ltd provided a professionally qualified rigging team to assist installing the steelwork for the flume rides within the Leisure Centre.
Restrictive access from above did not hamper the steelwork installation as innovative abseiling techniques were used to access the steelwork at all points necessary.
The highly qualified and trained AAL rigging team were tasked with gaining access to the main roof trusses to provide rigging and lifting services for coordination of the installation of supporting steelwork for the flume rides.
Tried and tested safe methods of working reduced any risks to operatives and prevent damage to the building throughout the operation, however further innovation was needed...
Specialist “aid climbing” techniques were used along the roof truss to where the steel work was to be installed. Rope slings permitted access past any obstruction points along the steelwork.
This method of access was used for both vertical and horizontal movement of operatives where areas did not permit typical vertical abseil drop.
